About Guardian Angels Parish

In 1909, Guardian Angels was formed to fill a need for a German-speaking church for the many families of German descent living in the area. The first services were celebrated in a vacant grocery store at 43rd and Belleview and the beautiful buiding we know now was completed in 1924. Now, with a school, a food pantry, and a rapidly growing parish, Guardian Angels continues to fill the needs of its community, preserving the tradition started over 200 yeras ago.

Our Mission

We are a culturally rich Catholic community strengthened and united in faith and worship. We strive to be messengers of hope, making God’s Word active in our everyday lives. We promote unity and self-growth, provide outreach to individuals in need and welcome all for fellowship and worship.

Our Guiding Principles

We believe that we
  • Celebrate the Eucharist as a presence of God within our parish community.
  • Exist in the presence of God and are called to be that presence for each other.
  • Make dreams come true by acting together to make them happen.
  • Come together to be nourished by the word of God.
  • Stand for reconciliation, peace, justice, and love.
  • Are called to ministry by virtue of our baptism.
  • Are called to be unifiers and reconcilers.

We value
  • The inter-cultural and inter-ethnic gifts, talents, and abilities of each and every person.
  • Collaboration with neighboring organizations to provide assistance to the Westport area.
  • Demonstrating concern about the needs of others, especially the poor.
  • Non-judgmental support.
  • Acceptance of people as they are.
